Police have noticed rising rate in CRA scams

Scam alert!

Police have noted that there is a rise in scams from people claiming to be from Canada Revenue Agency(CRA).

If you ever suspect that a person is falsely claiming to be a representative of CRA, people contact the police immediately.

A lot of these fraudsters will request forms of payment, do not pay them!

If you are not sure whether or not the call is from a legitimate CRA representative, calmly ask for their representative number, first and last name, and tell them you will call back later. Call the Tax Information Phone Service at 1-800-267-6999, tell them the information you received from the caller. If the caller is legitimate they will forward you to the proper individual. If not, an investigation may be prompted.

Remember to play is safe.

If you were unable to catch the scam in time and some of your information has been stolen,  ensure you contact the police, your banking institution and your accountant; immediately. Notifying these institutions as quickly as possible will help avoid any further problems.

If you ever have any problems, questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact us!!
