It is no secret that it is already very difficult to get in to see a doctor in Canada and it is about to get worse.
First, what brought them here was introductions of Professional Corporations and subsequent decline of personal and corporate tax rates since 1996. These attracted many foreign doctors to Canada because of attractive tax regimes for them to make a home for their families.
In two years, it has all changed.
We are about to witness the biggest loss of doctors to the United States and other countries since the 1990s.
Over 18 years provincial and federal governments, even the Chretien Liberals, slowly reduced corporate and personal tax rates 20 years to slowly get our tax system to be able to attract and retain skilled professionals to Canada.
