Morneau evades questions about balancing the budget
Finance Minister Bill Morneau refuses to say when – if ever – the Liberal government plans on balancing the budget.
In the House of Commons finance committee Wednesday, Morneau and Conservative finance critic Pierre Poilievre went head-to-head over when the budget will be balanced. Poilievre asked Morneau the question seven times in his first round of questioning — and Morneau came up with seven different ways to avoid answering him. Poilievre in his second round of questioning asked Morneau an additional six times when the budget will be balanced.
