Alberta One-time Relaunch Payment
The Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant offers financial assistance to Alberta businesses, cooperatives, and non-profit organizations that faced restrictions or closures from public health orders, and experienced a revenue loss of at least 30 per cent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eligible job creators can apply for up to $20,000 through this program.
This relief for businesses and non-profits can be used to offset the costs they are facing as they reopen their doors. This includes the costs of implementing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as physical barriers, PPE and cleaning supplies, as well as rent, employee wages, replacing inventory and more.

December 8, 2020 update: Starting early the week of December 14, job creators who have experienced a 30% revenue loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic will qualify for the program, lowering the threshold from the existing 40% revenue loss requirement. This 30% threshold will be available to impacted businesses retroactive to March.
Alberta businesses affected by the public health orders in effect from November 6, 2020 and later will also be eligible to apply for a second payment through the program.
Job creators that meet the program’s eligibility criteria will be able to apply for 15% of their pre-COVID-19 monthly revenue up to:
- a maximum of $5,000 in funding for their first payment, and
- a maximum of $15,000 for their second payment
Application intake for the second payment is not currently available but will open soon.
June 25, 2020 update: Starting June 29, eligible small- and medium-sized businesses, co-ops and non-profits can apply for funding so they can open their doors and get Albertans back to work.
Application intake will open at 10 a.m. on June 29, and remain open until Aug. 31, or for four weeks following the start of stage three of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy – whichever is later.
To manage the expected volume of applications, during the first week of application intake (June 29 to July 3), a specific application day has been designated for specific regions of the province. During this time, applicants are encouraged to apply on the application day that is specified for their region. Beginning July 4, businesses, cooperatives and non-profits from all regions may apply at any time until application intake closes.

Premier Jason Kenney announces support for businesses forced to shutter or curtail operations during #COVID19. Those with less than 500 employees and struggling to reopen are eligible for a one-time payment of up to 15% of monthly sales revenue, to a maximum of $5,000.#COVID19AB

[Kenny] said the payment will account for up to 15 per cent of a business’s monthly sales revenue and will be provided to organizations with less than 500 employees that were forced to close or were deeply affected by the pandemic.
Eligible businesses will receive a one-time payment of up to $5,000 to help reopen their doors as the province moves forward with its relaunch strategy. Economic Development, Trade and Tourism Minister Tanya Fir said where they spend that money won’t be overly regulated.
“It’s intended for things like inventory, supplies, wages, rent and putting in protective measures,” Fir said.
